Charming and wonderfully quirky lot of 3 vintage Japanese-style Christmas elf/gnome figures with remarkably similar hand-painted faces and pointed hats. Two are complete pinecone figures on round bases, while the third is a smaller head/ornament with chenille loop. One figure retains a visible JAPAN stamp on the underside.
Constructed with pinecones, chenille, spun-cotton/fuzzy materials, paper and other traditional mid-century craft materials. The figures show substantial authentic age and wear, including fading, discoloration, paint and surface loss, worn hat finishes, loose/fuzzy fibers and general handling wear.
