Description
Vintage figural glass Christmas ornament depicting a standing lion. This unusual small ornament has a molded three-dimensional body with a prominent mane, face, paws and tail. It retains its aged metal cap and hanging loop.
- Approximately 1.75" tall
- Molded/blown silvered glass construction
- Hand-painted gold/yellow finish with red mouth and dark facial details
- Dimensional standing lion design
- Original maker and country of origin are unknown
- Significant age-related paint loss and flaking exposes the silvered glass underneath
- Oxidation and surface rust present on the metal cap and hanger
- Additional discoloration, spotting and finish wear consistent with age
- No major cracks observed
The extensive wear is clearly part of this ornament's history, but enough original decoration remains to identify the lion and retain its character.
