Vintage German Mercury Glass Peacock Bird Ornament Painted Wood Tail 5.5"

Vintage German blown mercury glass peacock Christmas ornament with an unusually attractive hand-painted wooden tail. The molded silver glass body features raised feather detailing, a metallic green back, gold neck, red beak and delicate red glass crest. The wooden tail is painted with green, red, yellow and white peacock-feather decoration.

The fragile beak and crest remain intact. There is age-related oxidation, spotting and finish wear, particularly around the wings and underside. The wooden tail remains attached and displays nicely.
