Description
A large and charming antique composition baby, circa 1915–1925, wearing a beautiful long christening outfit. The unmarked shoulder-head has sleep glass eyes, feathered brows, open mouth with two teeth and a soft blond human-hair wig. Original/period cloth body with composition lower arms and lower legs/feet.
Costume: white cotton christening gown with extended train and eyelet trims, matching bonnet, bib/apron, slip and undergarments; small gilt “DARLING” pin on the bib. A group of old collector and repair tags accompanies the doll.
Size: approx. 25" long.
Condition: presents well, but with age and wear. Compo shoulder, head, and limbs show typical crazing, rubs and touch-ups; retouch visible at wig line and nape. Sleep eyes operate; one eye shows an old professional “fixed glass eye” repair per the tag. Cloth body is sturdy with scattered foxing. Clothing with age yellowing, scattered stains and small lace losses. Please review the photos as they form part of the description.
