Description

A signed 1980 Treebeard sculpture by fantasy artist Mike Makras, created during the formative years of his independent Lord of the Rings work. Standing approximately 9 inches tall, this hand-cast and hand-painted Ent exemplifies Makras’ distinctive sculptural language: deeply carved bark textures, expressive facial structure, and a naturalistic blend of roots, vines, and moss accents winding throughout the figure.

The piece is signed “Mike Makras 1980” along the base and retains its original green felt bottom. Makras’ early Ents are among his most character-rich Tolkien interpretations, capturing the ancient, weathered presence of Treebeard with strong vertical form and organic sculpted movement.

Condition is very good for a 1980 handmade sculpture, with scattered age-related paint wear consistent with Makras’ surfaces. No cracks, repairs, or structural concerns are present, and the figure stands evenly and displays with the substantial visual weight expected of an Ent.

This is a scarce early Tolkien sculpture by a recognized independent fantasy artist, produced before widespread commercial licensing. Large-format Makras Ents surface infrequently, and examples from 1980 are especially desirable among collectors of early Tolkien interpretive art.

Due to the value, an adult signature will be required upon delivery.
