Description
Antique German bisque-head J.D. Kestner baby, mold 257, about 18–18.5 inches tall. Bisque socket head with grey sleep eyes, open mouth with two upper teeth, blond wig; on a jointed composition baby body. Dressed in a vintage blue hand-knit romper with matching hat and booties over a cream undergarment.
Marks & attribution: back of head is impressed “Made in Germany 46” (visible); the 257 mold attribution is consistent with facial modeling and is also noted on the included period tag (see photos).
Condition (transparent):
Bisque head: no chips/cracks/hairlines observed under room light; eyes open/close properly.
Body: typical age wear/soil; notable paint wear and losses on hands/fingertips (see close-ups); surface rubs on limbs; stable overall.
Clothing: knit set is vintage/hand-made with minor pilling and a few snags.
