Description

Large and scarce unmarked China Boy doll, circa 1880s, measuring 24 inches tall. He has a glossy glazed shoulder head with molded black hair, delicately painted facial details, and bright blue eyes. Porcelain lower arms and legs with molded black boots are attached to a sturdy cloth body.

He wears a two-piece navy and ivory cotton outfit with lace and ribbon trim. Some age wear to the costume but no significant damage to the doll.

From a documented American collection formed during the 1970s–1980s; purchase notes and tags from that collection accompany the doll. Her original handwritten tags and a printed inventory page accompany the doll.
Her notes state:

“Low brow, turned head, cloth body, excellent quality, purchased in 1987 for $500.00.”
